Join us for a Church-wide “Wreck The Roof” Event
“Light The Night” is a neighborhood outreach effort to connect with our neighbors and community in a simple, lighthearted and positive way. We want to show kindness through generously offering food, getting to know our neighbors, and by inviting them to check out Current.
For several years now the Life Groups of Current have participated in this neighborhood outreach on Halloween night to connect with and invite their neighbors to Current. We’re grateful to our Life Groups for blazing the trail!
This coordinated outreach effort will take place on October 31st during Trick-or-Treating hours.
The neighborhood traditions of the Halloween holiday create the perfect conditions for us to connect with our neighbors. On this night, more than any other night in the year; people are out walking through their neighborhoods as a family and they are more open to having a friendly conversation with their neighbors. In addition, on this night of the year it is socially acceptable to receive candy from strangers, therefore people are also more likely to accept food offered in good will, from their neighbors.
Our selection of this night for the outreach is not an endorsement of Halloween. We realize people’s views and opinions about Halloween differ widely. It is our desire to redeem this night and use it for God’s glory. We want to literally shine the light of Jesus on this night in our community, thus the name, “Light The Night.”
Why Are We Doing This?
-
Helps us live out our “Wreck The Roof” value as we connect with neighbors and invite others to Current.
-
Helps us live out our “Break The Bread” value as we build relationships with others from Current and with our neighbors.
-
A great opportunity to shine the light of Jesus in our culture in a tangible way.
-
Allows our church family to come together in excitement and purpose around a church-wide ministry event.
-
Places the people of Current “on the map” in their neighborhoods for long term outreach opportunities.
