What kind of church is this?
Current is a warm and welcoming church that is made up of all kinds of people from many different backgrounds, ethnicities, and walks of life. We come together to worship God in a contemporary and upbeat way. We gather to learn from God’s Word, the Bible, and we strive to communicate God’s truth in a creative, fun and simple-to-understand way. While we take God seriously, we believe it’s important to maintain a relaxed, come-as-you-are atmosphere. So it doesn’t matter what you wear. Feel free to wear jeans (the Lead Pastor does!).

What are the services like?
The worship services last an hour. The music style is mostly contemporary worship music, although we value traditional hymns and occasionally use hymns in our worship service. Our Worship Pastor leads the congregation along with a team of volunteer vocalists and a volunteer praise band consisting of acoustic guitar, electric and bass guitar, drums, piano and keyboard.

Each Sunday a message is presented to the congregation by our Lead Pastor. Every message is Bible-based and is applicable and relevant to everyday life.

Our goal is to keep each service fresh and different. We want to creatively worship and creatively present the truth of God’s Word, the Bible.

What About My Children?
Teaching your children about Jesus in a safe and creative environment is one of our highest privileges and priorities.

Children’s Check In
Upon arrival, you will notice a convenient check-in station located just inside the lobby where you can check your children into an age-appropriate class. Each child is given a specific ID tag and only the parent checking them in can pick them up at the end of class time.

Our caring volunteers are excited about helping your children have a wonderful and meaningful time at church. Our church staff is certified in first aid and CPR.

Current Kids Discovery Bay:
Our Early Childhood classrooms and common areas reflect the mix of relaxation and sense of discovery that is brought to life by the beach theme. Your little ones will love their classrooms and you’ll appreciate the clean, attractive setting as well.

Current Kids Rivertown:
Elementary children will have a blast exploring Current Kids Rivertown. Our hallways and classrooms have been transformed into a fishing village where residents are encouraged to go on adventures with Jesus.

What About Junior High and Senior High Students?

Sunday Morning
6th thru 8th graders meet at 9:30 in the student building in gender- and age-specific small groups and High School students meet at 11:00. There will be someone there to greet you and make sure your student gets in a group in which they are comfortable.

We encourage students to attend a worship service during the hour they are not in small groups. If you need more info on Sunday mornings, feel free to contact titus@currentchristian.org.

Wednesday Night
On Wednesday night Jr. High and High School students gather from 6:30-8:30 in the student building. There’s lots of time to connect with friends, and we also spend time in worship and teaching.

Need A Fresh Start?

Do you need a change in your life? A fresh start? Most of us would welcome a new beginning but is that even possible? Isn’t it true that you get one shot at life and you’re sort of stuck with the hand you’re dealt? Not really. While we do have just one life, a new life and a fresh start are not only possible… they are promised through Jesus Christ.

The Bible promises a new life when we give over our lives to God and decide to live for him. 2 Corinthians 5:17 says, “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come!”

Where Does Real Change Come From?
Wouldn’t it make sense that the One who created us from nothing would be the One who could bring about true change and re-creation in our lives? We often look for temporary and empty ways to find that feeling of newness. Maybe a new car will make us feel better. How about a new outfit? Those things may make us feel good for a while but soon they fade and we’re back where we started. Only God can change what really needs changing—our hearts.

How To Become A Christian
Acts 4:12 tells us that there is no other name given to men, whereby we must be saved… other than Jesus. Jesus is the only way to God and our salvation comes only through Jesus Christ (John 14:6). Salvation cannot be earned. It is a gift of God (Ephesians 2:8-9).

When you are ready to give your life to God and become a follower of Jesus Christ, it is the most significant decision you will ever make.

The Bible mentions several steps regarding what we must do to become a Christian:

Hear the Good News about Jesus (John 5:24, Matthew 13).
Believe in Him (John 3:16, Mark 16:16).
Repent of our sins (Luke 5:32, Acts 2:38).
Confess our faith in Christ in the hearing of others (Romans 10:9-10, 1 Timothy 6:12).
Be baptized by immersion (Matthew 3:16, Acts 2:38, Acts 22:16).

If you are thinking about becoming a Christian or you’re ready to do so, please contact us. We would be happy to discuss this decision with you, schedule your baptism and be of help to you in any way possible.

How To Become A Member Of Current
If you have already been baptized by immersion in response to Jesus Christ, all you need to do to become a member of Current is to repeat the good confession publicly. In Matthew 16:15-16 Jesus asked his disciples who they thought he was. Peter replied, “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.” We call this the “good confession.”

When you decide to become a member of Current – A Christian Church, you are affirming that Current is where you want to grow, learn, serve and give. There are benefits to being an official member of a church. You have a sense of belonging; you are making a commitment; you are “putting down roots;” you are pledging to serve and grow and be accountable. Accountability is a good thing. When you become a member of the church, church leaders are there for you and can help hold you accountable to the truth of God’s Word.
