Need A Fresh Start?
Do you need a change in your life? A fresh start? Most of us would welcome a new beginning but is that even possible? Isn’t it true that you get one shot at life and you’re sort of stuck with the hand you’re dealt? Not really. While we do have just one life, a new life and a fresh start are not only possible… they are promised through Jesus Christ.
The Bible promises a new life when we give over our lives to God and decide to live for him. 2 Corinthians 5:17 says, “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come!”
Where Does Real Change Come From?
Wouldn’t it make sense that the One who created us from nothing would be the One who could bring about true change and re-creation in our lives? We often look for temporary and empty ways to find that feeling of newness. Maybe a new car will make us feel better. How about a new outfit? Those things may make us feel good for a while but soon they fade and we’re back where we started. Only God can change what really needs changing—our hearts.
How To Become A Christian
Acts 4:12 tells us there is no other name given to men whereby we must be saved…other than Jesus. Jesus is the only way to God and our salvation comes only through Jesus Christ (John 14:6). Salvation cannot be earned. It is a gift of God (Ephesians 2:8-9).
When you are ready to give your life to God and become a follower of Jesus Christ, it is the most significant decision you will ever make.
The Bible mentions several steps regarding what we must do to become a Christian:
Hear the Good News about Jesus (John 5:24, Matthew 13).
Believe in Him (John 3:16, Mark 16:16).
Repent of our sins (Luke 5:32, Acts 2:38).
Confess our faith in Christ in the hearing of others (Romans 10:9-10, 1Timothy 6:12).
Be baptized by immersion (Matthew 3:16, Acts 2:38, Acts 22:16).
If you are thinking about becoming a Christian or you’re ready to do so, please contact us. We would be happy to discuss this decision with you, schedule your baptism and be of help to you in any way possible.
How To Become A Member Of Current
If you have already been baptized by immersion in response to Jesus Christ, all you need to do to become a member of Current is to repeat the good confession publicly. In Matthew 16:15-16 Jesus asked his disciples who they thought he was. Peter replied, “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.” We call this the “good confession.”
When you decide to become a member of Current – A Christian Church, you are affirming that Current is where you want to grow, learn, serve and give. There are benefits to being an official member of a church. You have a sense of belonging; you are making a commitment; you are “putting down roots;” you are pledging to serve and grow and be accountable. Accountability is a good thing. When you become a member of the church, church leaders are there for you and can help hold you accountable to the truth of God’s Word.
