Our Story:
The church began 20 years ago in Bob and Kathy Randall’s back yard.
First Christian Church of West Houston (the original name) then met for a time in a local elementary school. Having outgrown the meeting space at the school, the church moved on to a renovated recreation center on Saums Road in Katy and was re-named Grace Christian Church. In 2001 Grace Christian Church re-located once again to the present 28-acre property. Due to widening and re-alignment of the street, the original Greenbusch Road address has now been changed to 26600 Westheimer Parkway. On May 23, 2010, the official name of the church was changed to Current – A Christian Church.
Why the name “Current—A Christian Church?”
The name says a lot about who we are. We are a Christian Church—an independent, non-denominational church. We seek to be current in our approach. We want to reach people in the Katy community with the message of Jesus and the truth of God’s Word in a relevant and current way. We believe God’s Word is applicable, relevant and current. It applies to our time, our culture and our lives right now.
A current is constantly in motion. It moves. It flows. We want to BE MOVED by God. We encourage people to move TOWARD God, to move FORWARD in their faith and spiritual growth and to move OUTWARD in reaching and serving others. That’s what we’re about.
The current of God’s love, grace and forgiveness began at the cross and flows into our lives, changing us forever.
